Light is one of the most unique things in our universe. It moves in waves but also has particles. It is the fastest substance known traveling at 299,792,458 meters per second. Light is a form of energy. Without it , we wouldn't be able to see. More importantly, without light we would wouldn't exist because the Sun is our main light energy source and without the Sun we would not be able to have life.
Light interacts with object in three different ways. It can bounce off objects (reflect), bend when passing through object (refract), or be absorbed by different objects (this is how we see colors). LIGHT ALWAYS TRAVELS IN A STRAIGHT LINE. |
ReflectionReflection occurs when light bounces off an object. Shiny objects, like a mirror, bounces the image back into a person's eye. Light can also reflect off non shiny objects, like a wall, and bounces in several different directions at once.

RefractionWhen light travels through a medium, it will bend. This causes the light to either change direction, spread out, or focus into a point. Three different mediums we talked about in class are: concave, convex, and a prism
